Terms & Conditions
1. Definitions
In these general terms and conditions, the following definitions apply:
-
Coach: Dorien Tatalas, operating under the name Door of Perception, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 69946345.
-
Participant: a natural person aged 21 or older who registers for or participates in a guidance trajectory or session provided by the Coach.
-
Client: a legal entity or natural person who, in a capacity other than that of Participant, initiates or facilitates a guidance trajectory — for example by enrolling one or more individuals (such as employees or clients) and/or taking responsibility for payment and organisation.
-
Truffles: the legally permitted sclerotia (underground fungal structures) of psilocybin-containing mushrooms in the Netherlands, which are freely available at smart shops and may be used under supervision during a session.
2. Coaching trajectory
Coach offers professional guidance to healthy adults (aged 21 and older) who choose to use psilocybin-containing truffles in a safe, structured setting for personal development or self-exploration.
2.1 An individual coaching trajectory consists of the following components:
-
A free, no-obligation introductory call of approximately 30 minutes.
-
An online intake and screening (see also article 2.3), in which Coach assesses whether a truffle experience is appropriate and responsible for the Participant. If suitable, the Participant receives a preparatory assignment and informational materials.
-
An in-depth preparation session in which Coach explains how truffles work and what to expect during the session. The Participant discusses their intention(s), expectations, and any concerns.
-
The guided truffle session, averaging 6 to 8 hours. Coach ensures a safe environment throughout the entire day. The session day begins with a shared pre-session conversation and concludes with a debriefing once the effects of the truffles have worn off.
-
A brief check-in via SMS, WhatsApp, or Signal on the day following the session, in which Coach checks in on how the Participant is doing and together they agree on a suitable time for the integration session.
-
A closing integration session, typically two weeks after the truffle session, held in person or via video call. This gives the Participant space to share their experience and receive suggestions for further integration.
-
Unlimited consultation via email or WhatsApp throughout the trajectory, from the moment of screening through to the integration session.
2.2 The coaching trajectory explicitly does not include:
-
The preparation or processing of truffles. These are consumed fresh as sold in the shop.
-
Transport to or from the location. The Participant is responsible for arranging safe transportation and is preferably collected by a trusted person.
-
Aftercare or support following the closing integration session.
2.3 Screening and suitability assessment
Prior to the preparation session, a screening takes place. This consists of a questionnaire that can be completed online. The screening includes questions about the Participant's medical history and any current medication use. Coach reserves the right to decide, based on this information, not to proceed with the guidance if she does not consider participation to be safe or appropriate. In that case, the trajectory will not proceed and no costs will be charged to the Participant.
2.4 Exception for group sessions
The description above applies exclusively to individual sessions taking place at Coach's practice space. Group sessions follow a separate trajectory and may be subject to different terms. These will be provided in writing to the Participant(s) on a case-by-case basis prior to registration or payment.
3. Confidentiality and Privacy
3.1 Confidentiality
The Participant, Coach, and any Client commit to strict confidentiality regarding all confidential information obtained from one another or from third parties in the context of their collaboration. Information is considered confidential when it has been designated as such by the other party, or when this follows from the nature of the information.
3.2 Exceptions to confidentiality
Coach reserves the right to breach the duty of confidentiality when a (medical or psychological) emergency arises during the guidance, or when she feels compelled — in the interest of her own safety or that of the Participant — to share confidential information with third parties, including but not limited to medical personnel. In doing so, Coach will act with restraint and proportionality, sharing only information that is strictly necessary.
3.3 Privacy and data processing
Coach respects the Participant's privacy and handles all personal data with the utmost care, in accordance with applicable privacy legislation (including the GDPR). Further details regarding which data is collected, how it is processed, and within what timeframe it is deleted, are set out in Coach's privacy statement. This can be provided upon request and is available on the practice's website.
4. Audio recording
4.1 Recording during the session
For safety reasons, an audio recording is made of every guided truffle session. This recording is made using a voice recorder that is not connected to the internet and is stored exclusively offline. By participating in a guided truffle session, the Participant explicitly consents to this audio recording being made. Preparation and integration sessions are not recorded.
4.2 Access to the recording
Following the session, the Participant is entitled, upon request, to receive a copy of the audio recording. This can be sent via WeTransfer or by other secure means.
4.3 Use and distribution
The Participant is not permitted to publish, share online, or distribute the recording — in whole or in part — without the express written consent of Coach. The recording is intended solely for the Participant's personal use and reflection.
5. Risk factors
5.1 Contraindications for the use of psilocybin truffles
The use of psilocybin truffles is inadvisable and may be declined by Coach if one or more medical or psychological risk factors are present. These include, but are not limited to:
-
the use of antidepressants or other medications that may interact with psilocybin;
-
an existing psychiatric condition or diagnosis;
-
a personal or family history of psychosis, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder;
-
known cardiovascular disease;
-
brain injury or neurological conditions;
-
pregnancy or breastfeeding.
This list is not exhaustive; other factors may also give reason to advise against or decline participation.
5.2 Screening for risk factors
The risk factors listed above are discussed during the intake process. The Participant is required to truthfully disclose all relevant medical information that may affect the safety of the session.
5.3 Limitation of responsibilities
Coach is not a physician, psychiatrist, or psychotherapist. Coach does not perform medical procedures, make diagnoses, or provide treatment or aftercare for underlying psychological, psychiatric, or somatic complaints. If such issues are present or suspected, participation in a session may be declined. In that case, the Participant may — where appropriate — be advised to consult a medical specialist.
6. Guidance Agreement
A truffle session takes place only after the Participant and Coach have signed a written guidance agreement. By signing, the Participant explicitly declares that:
-
the use of psilocybin truffles takes place entirely on their own initiative and responsibility;
-
the Participant has read and understood the risk factors as listed in article 5.1;
-
the Participant has fully and truthfully discussed any risk factors applicable to them with Coach, and has been open about their psychological and physical health;
-
the Participant understands that Coach is not a physician or psychotherapist and therefore does not provide medical treatment or psychotherapeutic aftercare, including in the event that underlying issues are activated during or after the session;
-
the Participant enters into the guidance trajectory, including the truffle session, at their own risk and responsibility;
-
the Participant consents to an audio recording being made of the truffle session as described in article 4.
7. Force Majeure
7.1 In the event of force majeure on the part of Coach, she will notify the Participant and/or Client as soon as possible. During the period of force majeure, Coach's obligations are suspended.
7.2 Where possible and desirable, Coach will propose a suitable replacement. The Participant is free to accept or decline this replacement.
7.3 If performance of the agreement is impossible due to force majeure for a continuous period of more than six months, both parties have the right to dissolve the agreement in writing with immediate effect and without judicial intervention. In that case, Coach will refund any amounts already paid (insofar as these relate to services not yet delivered).
7.4 Force majeure includes, but is not limited to: illness or unforeseen personal circumstances on the part of Coach that temporarily or permanently prevent her from providing the session or guidance.
8. Refusal
8.1 Coach reserves the right to refuse a Participant if she cannot guarantee the safety of herself or the Participant. This applies both prior to and during the trajectory.
8.2 If, during or immediately following the preparation session, Coach determines that participation in the coaching trajectory is not responsible, she will inform the Participant verbally and, upon request, confirm this in writing. The planned truffle session will in that case be cancelled. For work already carried out and expenses incurred, the Participant owes a fee of €150.
8.3 If the refusal referred to in article 8.2 takes place within four weeks prior to the planned truffle session, the cancellation and no-show policy as described in articles 8 and 9 also applies. In that case, additional costs may be charged.
8.4 The Participant can reduce the risk of refusal by:
-
making use of the no-obligation introductory call before registering;
-
completing the intake and screening form fully, honestly, and truthfully.
8.5 Coach reserves the right to refuse to provide guidance at the start of the truffle session if, in her judgement, a situation arises that jeopardises the safety or success of the session. This includes, but is not limited to: appearing under the influence of alcohol or other substances, signs of psychosis or severe psychological dysregulation, or boundary-crossing or intimidating behaviour.
8.6 In the event of refusal on the grounds of article 8.5, the session is cancelled immediately. In that case, the Participant owes the full amount of the coaching trajectory and no refund is possible. The situation is then treated as a no-show as described in article 9.
8.7 If the Participant arrives more than 1.5 hours late on the day of the planned truffle session, Coach also reserves the right to refuse the session due to time-sensitive safety and care requirements. In that case, this is likewise treated as a no-show and charged accordingly.
9. Payment
9.1 Private individuals
9.1.1 The Participant is required to make payment after a date has been confirmed for the truffle session (or for an integration session following a psychedelic experience elsewhere). This always takes place after clearance has been given following the intake and screening (including for integration sessions).
9.1.2 The Participant pays a fixed amount for the coaching trajectory or integration session, as set out in Coach's fee schedule and/or as agreed in writing in advance. The Participant will receive an invoice by email, to be paid by bank transfer.
9.1.3 Payment for a coaching trajectory is made in three instalments, the first of which is a deposit. Payment of the deposit reserves a date for the truffle session. Without the deposit, Coach has the right to withhold confirmation of the session until the deposit has been received. Deposit amounts are listed in Coach's fee schedule. For any second or third truffle session, the Participant is also required to pay a deposit before a date can be reserved. The second and thirds instalments covers the remaining balance of the total amount. The invoices for these are sent on the day following the truffle session and one month after the truffle session. The payment term is 14 days.
9.1.4 Additional and standalone coaching sessions (for example, following a psychedelic experience elsewhere) are charged per session and invoiced on the day after the session. Payment can only be made by bank transfer.
9.1.5 If guidance takes place outside of Amsterdam, Coach will charge travel costs and, where applicable, accommodation costs. These are in addition to the amounts stated above and will be quoted in writing in advance.
9.1.6 Payment in multiple instalments is possible upon request. For payment in more than three instalments, Coach charges an additional administrative fee.
9.2 Companies and institutions
9.2.1 The Client is required to make payment following written agreement to the quote or price proposal. Agreement by email is also considered written agreement.
9.2.2 The Client will receive a digital invoice in the week following the last guided session, unless otherwise agreed. The payment term is 14 days.
9.2.3 In the case of multiple participants, Coach reserves the right to request a deposit from the Client.
9.2.4 In the case of multiple participants and/or guidance at locations outside Amsterdam, custom arrangements apply, with rates differing accordingly. The Client will receive a cost estimate in advance. Upon agreement, the cancellation terms apply and costs will be charged in the event of late cancellation or no-shows.
9.3 Payment default
In the event of late payment or payment default, the Participant or Client is automatically in default. Coach reserves the right to immediately suspend performance of the agreement. From that moment, statutory interest is due on the outstanding amount. If the claim is handed over to a debt collection agency, the Participant or Client is also liable for all judicial and extrajudicial collection costs.
10. Changes, Rescheduling, and Cancellations
10.1 Changes
A change refers to adjusting the date or time of an appointment or session without fully terminating the trajectory or agreement. The Participant remains enrolled and retains the right to guidance.
10.2 Cancellation
Cancellation refers to the definitive decision to discontinue participation in a session or trajectory. This may result in the forfeiture of reserved services and the charging of cancellation fees.
10.3 Rescheduling appointments
Rescheduling fees serve as compensation for the reserved day and preparation already invested. Paying a rescheduling fee does not entitle the Participant to a refund of (any part of) the trajectory — the session remains part of the package and will still take place on a date to be agreed.
-
Preparation sessions and closing integration sessions can be rescheduled free of charge up to 48 hours in advance. In the case of shorter notice or a no-show, a fee of €75 will be charged.
-
Truffle sessions can be rescheduled free of charge up to four weeks before the agreed date. A new date will be planned in mutual consultation, subject to the availability of both parties.
-
For rescheduling within four weeks of the session date, the following rescheduling fees apply:
-
Between 4 and 3 weeks before the session: €60
-
Between 3 weeks and 11 calendar days before the session: €100
-
Between 10 and 7 calendar days before the session: €150
-
Between 6 and 4 calendar days before the session: €250
-
Within 72 hours before the session: €350
-
No-show or cancellation on the day of the session: €500
-
If the Participant wishes to cancel the session definitively rather than reschedule, the cancellation terms as described in article 10.6 apply.
10.4 Changes to the format of the session
If the Participant decides on the day of the planned 1-on-1 truffle session not to take truffles, this choice is respected. Where desirable and appropriate, Coach will offer an alternative programme in the form of a guided meditative music journey of approximately 2.5 hours (consisting of approximately 1.5 hours of music and 1 hour of meditation and integration).
10.4.1 For this adapted session format, an additional fee of €300 is charged on top of the deposit already paid. The remaining balance of the regular coaching trajectory is thereby waived, as is the right to a separate integration session.
10.4.2 If the Participant chooses not to make use of the alternative programme and ends the session early, this is treated as a no-show. In that case, the full fee as described in the cancellation policy (article 10.6) applies, without the right to a refund.
10.5 Discontinuing guidance
The Participant may decide to stop the guidance at any time, except during a truffle session when the Participant is under the influence of the truffles. In that case, the Participant is required to remain present until the effects have fully worn off.
10.6 Cancellation fees
Cancellation fees are charged depending on the point at which cancellation occurs:
-
Following the no-obligation introductory call, before screening and preparation: no charge.
-
Following approved screening, before the preparation session: €50.
-
Following the preparation session, before a session date has been confirmed: €150.
-
Following confirmation of a session date (with deposit paid) up to 11 days before the session: €250; the deposit is non-refundable.
-
Between 10 and 3 days before the session: €400; deposit non-refundable plus additional invoice.
-
Within 72 hours before the session: €500; deposit non-refundable plus additional invoice.
-
No-show without cancellation: full amount of the coaching trajectory; deposit non-refundable plus additional invoice.
-
Following the truffle session, before the closing integration session: no additional charge; payment of the second instalment remains due; no refund for the integration session.
10.7 Group ceremonies
A separate cancellation policy applies to group ceremonies, which will be provided to participants in advance.
10.8 Force majeure
In exceptional cases of force majeure (such as serious illness or unforeseen circumstances), deviations from the above terms may be agreed upon in mutual consultation.
11. Cancellation Policy for Companies and Institutions
11.1 If the Client cancels the guidance agreement, all costs already incurred — including preparation hours, administration, and any reserved accommodation or venue — will be charged. In addition, a fee will be charged for the reserved days, based on the hourly rate agreed upon in advance. By giving written or email approval of the assignment, the Client commits to payment of these costs.
11.2 If one or more participants from the relevant organisation fail to cancel an appointment in time, do not attend, or withdraw from participation without timely notice, the costs already incurred and hours worked will likewise be charged to the Client. In addition, a fee will be charged for the time set aside, in accordance with the agreed rate.
12. Liability
12.1 Coach accepts no liability for physical and/or psychological complaints arising during or after the guidance trajectory, unless such complaints are demonstrably the direct result of intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of Coach.
12.2 Coach is not liable for direct or indirect damages suffered by the Participant or Client as a result of decisions or actions arising from or taking place during the guidance trajectory. Participation in sessions, including the use of psychedelic substances, takes place entirely at the Participant's own responsibility and risk. The Participant declares that, prior to participation, they have been sufficiently informed about the nature and possible effects of the trajectory and the substances used, and acknowledges that Coach carries out her services with due care within the framework of the agreed guidance.
12.3 Coach accepts no liability for loss or damage to the Participant's personal belongings, unless caused by intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of Coach. If liability on the part of Coach is nevertheless established, it is limited to a maximum of the amount paid by the Participant for the service in question.
12.4 Coach is not liable for damage to (rented) venues or furnishings made available by or on behalf of the Client, unless such damage is the direct result of intent or deliberate recklessness on the part of Coach.
12.5 If damage occurs to the (rented) space or furnishings during a session, Coach will make a claim on the Participant's liability insurance.
12.6 Coach is not liable for delays, cancellations, or shortcomings in the provision of services as a result of force majeure. Force majeure is understood to include: natural disasters, pandemics, illness, government measures, telecommunications failures, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond Coach's control.
12.7 The Participant declares awareness of the nature and intensity of the sessions, and confirms that — in the event of medical conditions or medication use — they have sought medical advice in advance. Coach is not responsible for damages resulting from the Participant's failure to do so.
12.8 The Participant takes full personal responsibility for any side effects, risks, or unexpected reactions during and after the sessions, and indemnifies Coach against all third-party claims arising from their participation in the guidance trajectory.
13. Professional Association & Confidential Adviser
Coach is a member of the Guild of Guides Netherlands, a professional association for guides working with legal psychedelic substances. This membership means that Coach commits to the code of conduct, ethical guidelines, and quality standards established by the association. If a Participant feels they have been treated inappropriately or has a complaint about the guidance, they may contact an independent confidential adviser through the Guild of Guides. This person is available for a confidential conversation and, if desired, mediation.
14. Copyright & Use of Materials
14.1 All written, audiovisual, and other materials received by the Participant in the context of the guidance trajectory, whether physical or digital, are and remain the property of Coach and are protected under applicable copyright law.
14.2 The Participant is granted a personal, non-exclusive, and non-transferable right to use these materials within the context of their own guidance trajectory. It is not permitted to copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, sell, or otherwise make these materials available to third parties without the prior written consent of Coach.
14.3 Additional terms of use apply to digital products such as the online toolkit or masterclasses, and are made available separately. These apply to access, use, and any further distribution of the relevant digital content.
14.4 Use of materials in a professional or commercial context — such as within one's own practice or training setting — is only permitted with the prior written consent of Coach.
